BHF Warwick Half Marathon
Originally scheduled for the beginning of March, the Warwick Half Marathon was cancelled due to heavy snow. Almost 1000 runners were met with almost ideal running conditions for the 13.1 mile course. The course went from the Racecourse out to Leek Wootton, Beausale, Hatton and Hampton on the Hill before the fast last mile to the finish at the Racecourse.
Leamington Cycling and Athletic Club had a mix of experience and debutants running. Tom Foulerton looking at ease in his first ever half marathon finishing second just 5 seconds behind the winner, Dominic James’s time of 1.14:19.
Dom Hull came in next for LCAC in 1.22:18 (12th) followed by Brian Miller’s 1.28:02 (37th). Our first lady (9th lady), Jade Holt came in 1.32:42 (71st). Followed by a satisfied Andrew Higgins 1.34:07 (93rd) debutant for the club Wes Stanton 1.41:34 (184th). The more experienced or old stager Alex Montgomery ran in 1.43:11 (222nd and 2nd M60). Chasing him close to the line was Anouk Molliex just 36 seconds back in 236th.
Finally, Mary Donaldson who has taken a break from track and field to run her first Marathon in London in 2 weeks time. This was her first ever road race on home soil. Set a target time of 2hours 24mins by her coach, she smashed that by running 2hours 16:52, leaving her confident of achieving her London target of a sub 5 hour mark.
