Sportshall UK Championships

5 young athletes made the trip up to Sports City in Manchester to represent Warwickshire at the Uk Sportshall Championships. U15 Boys Matthew and Jack came 3rd in team event. Matthew also came 3rd in the Shot Putt final with a throw of 12.14m. U15 Girls Robin was part of the team who finished 5th.

On the Saturday Ella and Isla made up part of the U13s Girls Sportshall team who came 3rd. This being the highest the U13 girls team had come in a Uk Final.

Regency 10km

35 Leamington C&AC runners took to the streets of Leamington on Sunday as part of the Regency 10k and came home with a number of first placed categories. Callum Hanlon, who had taken the winner’s crown last year, was faced with tougher competition this year and had to settle for third in what was a tightly run race. Hanlon crossed the line in 32:46.

The younger athletes were also showing off their talents with Greg West coming home in 7th position overall which also saw him win the junior title in a time of 34:33. Not to be outdone by the men, the female juniors took first, second and third place in their category with Rosie Cale (43:46), Saffie Chiba 45:57) and Rositsa Gugutkova (46:33) all having a good run.

Natalie Bhangal had more success crossing the line as first lady in a time of 38:35 with team-mate Megan Mcdonald not far behind, coming in at 39:27 to finish second lady. Jenny Jeeves was fourth lady across the line in 40:18 which also saw  her win second in her age category. Steve Hundal was first in his age category finishing in 39:06.

Good show at the Rugby Spring Open  and Charnwood open for LC&AC.

An early start for the throwers with javelin being at 9.30am! Lydia Mitchell, U17W – 35.57m. Matthew Ashbourne, U17M – 36.18m (new PB). Lauren Ashbourne, U20W – 35.80m (new PB), Mary Carter SW – 26.70m. Tony Foster, M60 – 27.64m

The Sprint group showed good form with India Phillips gaining 3 PBS and Ben Hawkes running a club record. Running the 100m Matthew Johnson, U15B, 12.6s (PB). Matthew Ashbourne, U17M  12.0s (PB).  James McNally, SenM – 11.9s. Chloe Browilow SW 13.2 (new PB), India Phillips SW 13.2 (new PB). In the 100m Hurdles India Phillips 17.5 (new PB)

Ben Hawkes lead the way in the 200ms in 21.9secs with a New Club u20 record and equals club senior and overall record. Matthew Johnson U17 25.4, India Phillips SW 27.3s  (new PB), Hannah Cooper U15 27.8secs, Holly Pater  U1529.2 (new PB)

400m Running his first 400m Remo Volpe U17 56.2. All running in the same race lead by Ben Hawkes U20 50.1 , Nathan Moore M 59.4, Dom Brown M 68.2, Tony Foster M 68.4. Nick Tawney ran a good 800m in 2.38min. 

At Loughborough a new pb for Finn of 2.20m in the Pole-vault. Cameron Williams-stein and Jai Sispal ran in the 100m hurdles both running PBs of 15.45s and 15.47s. Jai later went on to run in the 1500m also running a PB of 4.12.49.
