Senior league Match 2 at Loughborough. With a few more athletes than the 1st match the team came 6th.
Starting with the track events and shortest first. In the 100m James McNally run a Pb in 11.5 to come 6th in the A race and Matthew Ashbourne also coming 6th in 12.1 in the B race. Louise Corcoran and India Phillips both ran solid perforce to come 5th and 4th retrospectively in their A and B races.
Ben Hawkes ran a great race to win and run a Pb of 21.9s in the 200m and James McNally was 5ht in 24.2s. Stephanie Child was 4th in her 200m race and Rebecca Kitching was 5th with a PB time of 29.6s.
Nathan Moore was 6th in his 400m race with Remo Volpe making his Senior debut to be 5th in the B race. Stephanie Childs was 7th in the A race and India Phillips who is proving to have a fab season already won the B race with a Pb time of 64.5s.
With only the men having athlete in 800m plus race they got valuable points for the team. Phil Gould and Paul Andrew ran brilliant 800m in the pouring ran. With Paul running a PB of 2.21.8. Phil Gould and Alex Ibbs proved to have strong races in the 1500m, and Paul Andrew and Charlie Staveley running SBs in the 3000ms.
India Phillis won both the 100mh and 400mh missing out on a PB in the 100mh by 0.2s and running a Pb in the 400hm. WOW!
We fielded 3 out of the 4 relays teams, 4×1 men were 4th, 4×1 women were 3rd and 4×4 men were 5th.
Moving to the Field.
Drew Sinnott was 2nd in the High Jump, jumping a PB of 1.65m. He later went onto winning the Long jump and James McNelly was 3rd in the B field.
Rebecca Kitching won the Women Pole vault with a PB of 2.60. Louise Corcoran and Stephanie Child were both 2nd in the Women Long jump A&B fields. No men fancied the Triple jump, with Rebecca Kitching 3rd (A) and Stephine Childs 1st (B).
Drew Sinnott proved a natural in the shot putt coming 5th with a PB of 9.87m and Matthew Ashbourne moving up a weight to compete came 3rd in the B also with a PB, 8.89m. Sophie Hunt and Mary Carter both threw well coming 2nd (A) and 1st (B) retrospectively.
James Sinnott and David Ashbourne were keep the double act both competing in the Hammer and Discus. Both coming 6th in Discus (A&B), and 5th and 6th retrospectively in the Hammer. Lauren Ashbourne and Sophie both had solid performance in the Discus. Lauren 4th (A) and Sophie 1st (B). Sophie and Mary both throwing in pouring rain to compete in the hammer kept cool head to get a good throw in to come 4th (A) and 2nd (B).
Drew Sinnott again picking up full points in the Javelin and Matthew Ashbourne (again moving up the weight) also picking up full points. Lauren Ashbourne couldn’t quite come away with the win to come 2nd in the A and Mary Carter throwing well enough for 1st in the B.
With plenty of space left on the team. The team travel back to Burton on the 6th July, hoping to get out of the relegation zone.
