Senior track and field

The Senior track and field team took a trip up the M6 &M54  to Telford for the 3rd league meeting.

With a smaller team then normal the team kept the fight for staying put the there current division. 

Morgan Reeves stepped up to the A string 100m (12s)and 200m (24.3s) with seasons bests in both races. Mango Atwal had a good race in the 100m (13.1s)

Sprint athletes Louise Corcoran (13.1s)and Stephanie Childs (13.9s) both came 3rd in there 100ms races. Louise was 5th in the 200m, 3rd the B long jump, 2nd in Triple jump jumping a seasons best. Stephanie 3rd in the 200m and A long jump. 

Alex Ibbs ran the 800m coming 6th in 2.11mins. Bad Kandole ran a great race coming 4th in his 800m with a seasons best (2.15.7min). Zara Blower held up the distances races for the ladies with fine 3km and 1500m races coming 5th in both.

Endurance athletes Jack Savage Phill Gould  picked up valuable points in the 400mh and steeple case. Jack ran Personal bests in both races 400hm 62s &  2k steeple 6.38.7mins). Phill also jumped in the high jump.

At the hottest point of the day Andrew Savery was the first man home in the 5k in a season best time (15.42.2mins) along with Charlie Staveley who ran a Personal best to come 2nd in the B race (17.25.1 mins). 

Cameron Williams-stein jumped well in both high jump and pole vault. 

The Sinnott family had a busy day with Drew, jumping well in Long jump coming 4th, 2nd in shot putt with a personal best throw, Drew settled for 3rd in the Javelin (41.50m). Brother Callum still looking after his hamstring filled in the throw events, 2nd in B Shot up, 4th in A discus and a personal best in the hammer 23.67m. James Sinnott, threw a seasons best in the B discus event and 4th in Hammer also with a season best throw (24.35m). James also threw another seasons best in Javelin (28.90m) 

Mary Donaldson, competing as a B string athlete came 2nd triple jump (8.44m) and 3rd Hammer (21.64m). She also Won the B javelin with a age group club record with 29.78m.

Throws athletes made up the points were Sophie hunt was 3d in Shot Put, 2nd in the B discus (25.18m) came 2nd in the Hammer (35.19m) Lauren Ashbourne was 4th in B shot up, 5th in A discus (28.80m). Lauren also came 3rd the in A Javelin (33.79m).

Northbrook 10k

Despite the heat, Leamington C&AC walked away with an array of wins at the local Northbrook 10k race on Sunday including both men and women’s team prize. A hot uphill start saw runners hitting the more rural roads of Allesley in what is described as an “undulating” course. Paul Andrew was not feeling 100% but still managed to finish 5th overall and first back for the local club. Phil Gould had only decided to race earlier in the day having competed in 4 events at a track and field event the day before. Gould ran a confident race finishing 7th. Backed up by Vassilis Andreoulakis in 10th and Dean Mawby in 14th the men took the team prize as well as Andrew, Gould and  Andreoulakis all taking prizes for their relevant age categories. The ladies also showed their strength with Kelly Edwards running a personal best and finishing first lady in a time of 38:44. Team mates Wendy Daniels and Sue Harrison joined her in the winning team, Harrison also collecting an individual prize.

Earlier in the morning, the youth squad showed the future of the club with James Gould finishing 4th in the 2k fun run with Johnathon Ingram just behind in 5th place and Rocco Secker in 15th.
