Saturday 16th September was the English Schools Athletics Association combined events final in Boston Lincolnshire. Cameron Williams-stein from Kenilworth school took part in 2 qualifying rounds gaining sufficient points to be one of 45 junior boys across the country invited to take part in the event.
The level of competition was exceptionally high but Cameron, who trains with Leamington Cycling and Athletics Alub, performed well in his 80m hurdles and 800m and achieved personal bests in shot, long jump (5.49m), high jump (1.65m) and pentathlon points (2420). After qualifying in 35th place in the country he was delighted to finish the event in 21st place.
The young athletes sessions are starting again on Thursday 7th September. Using the Athletics 365 model, we will provide a gentle introduction to athletics in a fun and enjoyable way.
Sessions are £5.00 or can be block booked, speak to the coaches about this. Athletes in this group will be able to take part in some of the indoor Sportshall competitions if they want to, there is no pressure to do so at this age.
Hope to see you there…
Club Championships Photographs
Here’s a selection of photographs from our recent Club Championships which were held over the weekend of the 1st and 2nd September. Even though a lot of events were held on the same day, it was enjoyable for all those taking part. The weather was perfect being sunny and warm all day.
