Leamington had a good turnout at the 2nd Gloucester League fixture at Malvern on Saturday. The course was very challenging with 200ft of climbing in every lap.
As in the first fixture the under 15 boys stole the show with another 1st place finish ahead of Cheltenham with the B team in 3rd place. Keiran Chalal led the team home in 3rd place with a time of 18mins 31secs to put him in contention for an individual medal. He was followed home by Alex Ibbs (4th – 19.26) and Greg West (9th – 20.12). Toby Loveday was first in for the ‘B’ team in 12th place (20.44) and the team was completed by Tim Virr (14h – 21.54) and Ben Illesley (15th – 22.45). Jim Lovejoy was 16th (20.44) and Dominic Priest 17th (23.29)
The under 17 men also finished first with Matthew Woodhouse 5th (20.30), Adam West 7th (21.23) & Freddie Loveday (8th – 21.55)
The largest team of the day was the Senior Men with 9 athletes. The 9.6k course over 3 laps was a real teat and Steve Howes led them home in 59th place in a time of 40.10. Craig Bower was next in 64th (40.41) followed by Michael Denney (97th – 42.47) and Nick Tawney (108th – 43.31) who was also 3rd Vet 55. The team was completed by Paul Caruana (137th – 45.48) and Noel Butler (186th – 50.36). Other finishers were Duncan Loveday 189th – 51.10), Graham Roberts (194th – 52.10) and Rupe Chalal (216th – 57.07). The team finished 14th and the masters were 4th.
The only other team was the under 13 boys who finished 4th. Will Eadon was first home in 7th position in a time of 14.11. He was followed home by Cian McKeaney (22nd – 16.00), Danial Chalal (23rd – 16.05) & Sebastian Priest (30th – 17.25)
Angela Chalal was the only senior women running and she finished 14th with a time of 30.17 and was the 2nd Vet 40.
Kieran Caruana was 44th in the under 11 boys race in a time of 8.34 and in the under 11 girls race
Melanie Gould recorded 8.30 to finish 16th.
